Listen to Chagossian lawyer & activist Olivier Bancoult with Mauritian author and activist Lindsey Collen discuss the history of the Chagos and the continued struggle for return and decolonization. Responding to current issues, the series aims to shed light on the military presences operating on the continent and the ways Africans grapple with them. Specifically the webinar aims to: Situate the Chagos islands in a larger geopolitical context Give examples of the consequences of military operations, and of African resistance and criticism. Discuss why teachers, students, and U.S. citizens should know about this military activity as responsive global actors.
