EXPLOSIVE ORIGINS (Words & Music by A. Marscher ©1999)
1. We've elevated our genes from one-celled things and developed thinking brains
We've crawled out of the seas and climbed up the trees and then climbed down again
Now we've multiplied and species have died from our overpopulation
We've polluted the air, oxygen's getting rare from deforestation
Yeah, we're stripping the Earth for all that it's worth and it can't be restored again
Animals and plants from redwoods to ants suffer at the humans' hands
Chorus 1:
We must remind ourselves just who we are and how our lives began
For we are remnants of exploded stars, descendents of the Big Bang
If we allow ourselves a humble fate, then we'll be to blame
For betraying a heritage so great that we won't deserve the name. . . homo sapiens
2. For we are dust from the stars and have journeyed so far from explosive origins
We have reasoned our way to a glorious day of world domination
We've reached into our souls to accomplish our goals of liberation
From natural bounds that could cause us to drown in seas of limitation
Now the future is yours to discover the cures from self-annihilation
Step out of your shell, climb out of this hell built by past generations
[Chorus 1]
Chorus 2:
We must remind ourselves just who we are and how our lives began
For we are remnants of exploded stars, descendents of the Big Bang
If we pursue a noble destiny worthy of our name
We can justify our ancestry and we'll deserve the claim. . . to true wisdom
