We couldn't resist another BU Yesterday picture
of the BU Bridge -- metallic, not italic --
especially not this garishly colored 1930s postcard
lent to us by Sargent College Dean Emeritus George
Makechnie. Beyond the vintage autos and the absence
of the Massachusetts Turnpike Extension, the most
striking difference six decades makes in this view
is that there was no Storrow Drive back then. Note,
too, the building to the far right. Built in 1931
as an office building for Shell Oil, it was
occupied for many years by Sargent College, and now
by Boston University Academy.
