What Is the Dual Degree Program?

Through the Dual Degree Program, students have the opportunity to earn two bachelor’s degrees from separate undergraduate schools or colleges at Boston University simultaneously. Navigate below to learn more about the program requirements and application process for CAS students.

If you have questions about the Dual Degree Program or would like to schedule an appointment, please contact Sarah Niles, Assistant Director and Dual Degree Coordinator, at sdniles@bu.edu.

The DDP requires completion of additional courses/units beyond the 128 needed for the BA in CAS.  You must also complete the degree requirements of both schools/colleges of enrollment, including major requirements, general education requirements, and college requirements.

You can read the full program requirements, policies, and procedures in the academic bulletin.

Application Process

  • CAS students interested in the Dual Degree Program should first contact Sarah Niles (sdniles@bu.edu); non-CAS students should first be in touch with their home school
  • Students will then meet with the advisor/Dual Degree coordinator in their current school and in their school/college of proposed enrollment to discuss each school’s degree requirements and begin the Dual Degree Program application. You may also be referred to a departmental advisor for additional advising and approval.
    • As a part of the application, students are required to write two-page statement of intent for the Dual Degree Program
  • Students are required to meet the admission criteria for the Dual Degree Program, including introductory courses or audition/portfolio requirements for certain schools/colleges
  • Your primary school/college coordinator will review your finalized application and notify you of your admission status
