Manager of Enrollment and Student Engagement

Marilu Santacruz is the Manager of Enrollment and Student Engagement for the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. Before joining the College of Fine Arts, Marilu was the Youth Orchestra Manager at Sarasota Orchestra where she ran the daily operations of the Youth Orchestras and Summer Music Camp.

As a first-generation Ecuadorian immigrant, Marilu understands the challenges minorities face in the music industry. Ms. Santacruz is an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the arts and strives to help bridge inequities by providing accessible resources to underrepresented communities.

Marilu earned a Bachelor of Music Performance in viola from Valdosta State University where she was awarded the Outstanding Undergraduate Musician Award for her record of artistry and academic excellence. She then went to pursue a Master of Music Performance in viola at Florida State University where she served as a Graduate Assistant and was awarded the Harsanyi Funding Scholarship—a scholarship for incoming viola graduate students.

In her spare time, Marilu enjoys reading, watching true crime documentaries with her husband, Rick, and going on long walks with her dog, Oso.
