CoHSTAR Johns Hopkins Faculty Fellowship Opportunity: Visiting Scientist
Deadline February 15, 2020

CoHSTAR is pleased to announce CoHSTAR and Johns Hopkins will continue to offer a part time, faculty fellowship opportunity (12-18 months).

The selected faculty fellow will retain current faculty appointments, while utilizing CoHSTAR and Johns Hopkins support to maximize protected time to engage in research activities as a Johns Hopkins Visiting Scientist. The fellow will be paired with a CoHSTAR faculty mentor and work within the Johns Hopkins Activity and Mobility Promotion (@hopkinsAMP) team.

Focus: @hopkinsAMP firmly establishes the concept that a systematic approach is beneficial in combating the harms of immobility in the acute hospital. Whether in the ICU or in other hospital units, immobility and its associated negative consequences, increased length of stay and hospital-acquired harms, leading to worse patient outcomes and increased total costs of care.  Previous CoHSTAR fellows have supported the development of @hopkinsAMP tools and resources adopted around the world.

This fellowship provides the opportunity to work with data, administrators, researchers and clinicians from a world-renowned health system.  The focus will be on measurement of function of patients and promotion of hospital inpatients’ activity and mobility. Investigating the relationship between activity and mobility and key outcomes such as falls, discharge disposition, and other hospital associated harms is also a key part of this work. Fellows are encouraged to work with the mentorship team to identify areas of investigation that are aligned with their personal interests and the mission of @hopkinsAMP.
