2015 Redstone Finalists Announced

BOSTON–The Boston University College of Communication (COM) today announced the finalists for the 2015 Redstones, the premier showcase for student work created in production classes in the College of Communication’s Department of Film & Television. The three-part festival premieres in Boston on February 25th at 7 p.m. at BU’s Tsai Performance Center (685 Commonwealth Ave.) followed by a screening in New York City on March 13th and a screening and competition in Los Angeles on April 2nd.

The 2015 Redstones finalists are:

  • “After” by Emily Sheehan (COM ’15)
  • “Albert Lively” by Jack Garrett (COM ’14)
  • “Ida’s 85th” by Julia Iglesias (COM ’14)
  • “The Phoenix” by Jim Dandee (COM ’14)
  • “Tianjin Driver” by Sara Doering (COM ’15)
  • “Vows” by Fannar Thor Arnarsson (COM ’14)
  • “Winter/Spring” by Bryan Sih (COM ’14)

Finalists will compete for awards in Best Film (First, Second, Third Place), Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Best Editing, and Best Sound Design. Each winner will receive prizes sponsored by Canon and Avid, which include Canon cameras and accessories, Avid and ProTools software. Two additional awards will focus on student screenplays and production.

The Fleder-Rosenberg Short Screenplay Contest is sponsored by distinguished alumni Gary Fleder (COM ’85) and Scott Rosenberg (COM ’85), and presented to a student who has written an original short screenplay script. Monetary prizes ranging from $500 to $1,250 are presented to a first, second and third place winner.

The Adrienne Shelly Foundation, which funds the development of women film makers, will award a $5,000 Adrianne Shelly Production Grant to a promising woman film student.
