Steven Chu, director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, delivered the 134th Commencement address. Noted journalist, editor, and author Bill Kovach spoke at the Baccalaureate service.
Also receiving honorary degrees were: celebrated American painter and BU alumnus Brice Marden; Judy Norsigian, co-author of Our Bodies, Ourselves; Dr. Samuel O. Thier, former CEO of Partners HealthCare System, Inc.; and BU Trustee Peter Vermilye, senior advisor and portfolio manager at Fortis Investments.
