Dr. Bing Liu Elected Vice President of the Boston Chapter of the AADR

Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM) Assistant Professor Dr. Bing Liu was elected Vice President of the Boston Section of the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) at the Section’s Winter Meeting on December 2.

Dr. Liu was inspired to seek this position by AADR Boston Section President BUGSDM Professor and Assistant Dean for Community Partnerships and Extramural Affairs Dr. Michelle Henshaw.

"I’ve been involved in dental research for the last 12 years and a member of the AADR for the last 10," said Dr. Liu. "Participating in AADR events has given me the opportunity to get to know a lot of people in the field and I thought serving as Vice President would allow me to give back to an organization from which I have benefited professionally."

Dr. Liu will serve as Vice President until 2010, when he will replace Dr. Henshaw as President. The Boston Section of the AADR has 253 members. They meet two to three times a year and at each meeting a renowned speaker in the field of dental medicine addresses the Section. At the meeting on December 2, BUGSDM Professor and Chair of General Dentistry Dr. Judith Jones presented a lecture titled, "Does periodontal care improve glycemic control? Findings from the VA Dental Diabetes Study".
