“DEVI – The Goddess” – 4.7 – 4.8

Triveni presents DEVI – The Goddess on April 7 at 8 pm and April 8 at 3 pm.

Out of the quiet, dark winter and as spring awakens, witness Hindu goddesses come to life in the Triveni Ensemble’s “Devi”, featuring Bhairavi, the fierce warrior, Saraswati, patron of knowledge and the arts, Lakshmi, bestower of fortune, and Parvati, the embodiment of love and devotion. Neena Gulati and the Triveni Ensemble are back to present a spellbinding performance that showcases three Indian classical dance styles with brand new choreography, set to both modern and traditional music. “Devi” fuses percussive footwork, sensual movement, and nuanced storytelling.

All proceeds will go to Pratham, an organization committed to improving children’s education in India (prathamusa.org).

The Triveni School of Dance is a non-profit organization dedicated to the education and performance of Classical Indian dance, social awareness and the celebration of cultural diversity. Founded by acclaimed dancer, Neena Gulati in 1971, Triveni trains over 200 students in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Odissi.
