Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of the Board of Trustees

Erika Geetter joined the Office of the General Counsel in July 1996 and served as Deputy General Counsel from July 2011 through September 2013, when she became Vice President and General Counsel. In September 2018, she was elected Secretary of the Board of Trustees, and in April 2020, she was promoted to Senior Vice President. As Secretary, she oversees the Office of the Trustees, which coordinates the meetings of the Board of Trustees and its various committees, as well as communications with the members of the board. Ms. Geetter came to Boston University after several years as a lawyer with the Metropolitan Legal Department in Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to that time, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Phyllis A. Kravitch on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Savannah, Georgia, and represented indigent clients as a lawyer with Legal Services of Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Ms. Geetter graduated in 1985 summa cum laude with a B.A. from Yale University and received her J.D. with Honors from the University of Chicago Law School in 1989, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif. During law school she served on the editorial board of the University of Chicago Law Review. She is a past Co-Chair of the College and University Law Section of the Boston Bar Association.
