The first Pardee House Seminar of the Fall 2010 semester will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2010 on Accountability in Global Governance.

The seminar will launch the Pardee Center’s Fall calendar of activities which included conferences on Governance for a Green Economy, on South-South Economic Cooperation, and on Latin America 2060 and also a new seminar series on Energy Transitions.

The seminar is also a part of the Pardee Center’s suite of activities of global governance and is organized parallel to two separate expert meetings being held at Pardee House this week : on Accountability in Global Environmental Governance on September 9 and on Governance for a Green Economy on September 10.

While both expert meetings are by invitation only, this Pardee House seminar provides the opportunity to the Boston University community to meet participants coming for those meetings.

The seminar will feature opening remarks from Adnan Amin, Director of the United Nations Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB) Secretariat, Amb. Lumumba Di-Aping of Sudan, who is his country’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations and has been the Chief Negotiator of the G-77 in recent environmental negotiations, and Mark Halle, the European Director of the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). The Seminar will be moderated by Prof. Adil Najam, Director, Pardee Center. The seminar will also be attended by a number of invited guests participating in the two expert meetings being held on Thursday and Friday at Pardee House.

The Pardee Seminar Series focuses on a variety of issues and invites experts from different disciplines to discuss the long-range challenges and trends in that particular issue.

The Pardee House Seminar on ‘Accountability for Global Governance ‘ will be held at Pardee House (67 Bay State Road, Boston) on Thursday, September 9, 2010, starting at noon.
