William Keylor, Professor of International Relations and History at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, said that Cold War propaganda changed the views of Europeans and Americans on the key role played by the Soviet Army in the victories over Germany and Japan in WWII.

Keylor made the argument in a May 5 article in Sputnik News entitled Cold War Distorted European Perception of WWII Victory.”

Said Keylor in the article:

“Without the sacrifices of the Soviet Union, the outcome of the war would have been very different, Keylor asserted.

“If the poll had asked the Russian people the same question, I have no doubt that at least 90% of them would say that it was the Red Army that defeated Nazi Germany in what they still call the Great Patriotic War,” he said.”
