BUCSA Hosts Art of Light in Asia Celebration
The Center for the Study of Asia (BUCSA), an affiliated regional center of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, hosted a November 16, 2017 Diwali celebration entitled “The Art of Light in Asia.” The event was organized with ASIABU and Hindi-Urdu Program at Boston University.
The event featured a selection of Chinese and Indian food, an incredible arrangement of paper lanterns and candles, and a variety of performances by Boston University groups that lasted throughout the evening.
Highlights included performances by Balinese Shadow Theatre, Zhaohua Chinese Culture Club, Verge Dance Company, Bhangra, SUNO and KhaTarnaK.
The Center for the Study of Asia promotes comprehensive, interdisciplinary, and cross-national understanding of Asia through coordination of teaching missions, research support, community-building among faculty and students, and broad outreach beyond the university. It strives to be an intellectual hub for new ideas and cutting edge research in the humanities and social sciences.
