This institute will be at an advanced level, aimed at graduate students, postdoctoral researchers or early faculty interested in broadening a research activity in the topic of modeling tsunamis, storm surges and tidal phenomena.

There are three options for participants to this PASI:

  1. If you are eligible (see below), and you are in the US or another country of the Americas, you can apply for travel support to attend.
  2. If you wish to participate with your own funding, you can register (there is no registration fee, but space is limited).
  3. If you are in Chile, you can pre-register for partial support from CCTVal for local expenses.

Apply for travel support

Funding is available for 25 participants to attend the institute, consisting of $1500 for  international travel plus $140 per-diem allowance capped at $1400.  Use this form to submit your application to be considered for funding.  The selections will be made by a committee of organizers, based on the criterion of achieving maximum impact for the institute.

Eligibility

You must be a graduate studentpostdoctoral researcher, or early faculty at an institution of higher learning in the US or any other country in the Americas. Local participants from Chile are not considered for travel support from this NSF grant, but local support will be  available for students from Chile, for which you must pre-register your interest.

You must have command of the English language; courses will be in English.  Some programming experience is necessary to take advantage of this institute; knowledge of the C-language is desirable.
