Abstract Context
Commentary & Paraphrase
In a writ of Trespass for a horse and certain sheep of the plaintiff taken etc., the justification was made of the same chattels, as the chattel of the Prior of L. found in the possession of the plaintiff as his bailiff, and this because the prior was seised of a house within the precinct of such view of frankpledge of the prince etc., for the nonappearance of the prior etc., because it was presented at such view etc. The plaintiff said that this was the chattel of the plaintiff, and not the chattel of the prior; ready etc., and he made his protestation that he did not acknowledge the tenancy in the way mentioned, (Latin begins) and the other side said the contrary (Latin ends), that it was the chattel of the prior.
