The Boston University Police Department (BUPD) is a full-time, professional law enforcement agency that provides a wide variety of public services, including alarms, emergency medical assistance, investigating suspicious circumstances, as well as responding to and investigating criminal matters.

BUPD patrols all three campuses 24 hours a day, spanning an area that includes over 132 acres of University-owned property and surrounding streets. Emergency response time is generally under three minutes to any location on campus. Boston University has 50 state-trained and deputized police officers.

In addition to the BU Police, on Boston University’s Medical Campus, BUMC Public Safety provides services and support to the Schools of Dental MedicinePublic HealthMedicineGraduate Medical Sciences, and the National Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratory (NEIDL). BU Public Safety officers are highly-trained individuals who protect people and property and provide services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

BUPD and BUMC Public Safety are actively engaged with the community, working to promote the safety and security of the campus and surrounding communities.
