Tutor/Peer Coach Application Information.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. Compensation is $17.50/hour.
Please note: Unfortunately, we are unable to hire hourly BU employees. Student employees and salaried BU employees are still eligible for hire.

Before you Begin:
- Please read over the application requirements for both programs below.
- You will be able to submit a tutor and peer coach application simultaneously.
- All applicants must submit an unofficial transcript. Please have one prepared to submit. (Note: a screenshot of your unofficial transcript from the BU Student Link is acceptable.)
- In addition, peer coach applicants if invited to interview you will be asked to do a writing appointment simulation.
Core Course Tutoring Program
Tutors are BUSPH students who:
- excelled in the core course they would like to tutor (earned an A or A- in the course),
- can provide at least 2.5 hours per week of tutoring,
- have excellent communication skills, and
- are able to be discreet with confidential information. All information pertaining to students being tutored, the tutoring sessions, and student grades is confidential. Tutors who relate any information to unauthorized individuals will be terminated from the program and may be subject to further disciplinary action.
Tutors will work in conjunction with the Program Manager for Student Mentoring and Graduate Student Life Office and are required to complete a training prior to tutoring and attend monthly meetings during the semester. Tutors will be compensated $17.50 per hour.

Public Health Writing and Presentation Skills Programs
Peer coaches provide one-on-one assistance to SPH degree candidates for writing and/or presentation appointments. Peer coaches are BUSPH students who:
- excel in communication as demonstrated by an A or A- on two or more writing assignments or presentations at BUSPH,
- possess strong communication skills,
- understand the challenges of the communication process,
- can provide between one and five hours per week of peer coaching,
- have excellent interpersonal skills, and
- are able to be discreet with confidential information. All information pertaining to students being assisted, the writing and presentation sessions, and student grades is confidential. Peer coaches who relate any information to unauthorized individuals will be terminated from the program and may be subject to further disciplinary action.
Peer coaches will work in conjunction with the Program Manager for Student Mentoring and Graduate Student Life Office and are required to attend a training session prior to tutoring and bi-weekly training meetings. Peer coaches will be compensated $17.50 per hour.
Please note that we give preference to students who can facilitate both writing and presentation appointments.
