Dr. Smith is Assistant Professor of New Testament and Director of the PhD Program at the School of Theology. Her work focuses on the traditions of Peter and the General Letters of the New Testament, diaspora studies, approaches to biblical interpretation (hermeneutics), Womanist and African American biblical interpretation, and Howard Thurman.
Our conversation with Dr. Smith will be centered on Chapter 1 and the Conclusion of her latest book, Interpreting 2 Peter through African American Women’s Moral Writings (Atlanta : SBL Press, 2023).
About the series: The School of Theology Library is proud to sponsor Library Conversations: Research and Scholarship at the School of Theology. Each conversation is focused on the scholarly work of a faculty member, doctoral student, or other member of the Boston University School of Theology community. The library provides an article or book chapter written by the author as the focus for the conversation.
