Exhibition: Bordados De Memoria: Embroidering Memories For Peace

On display at the School of Theology Library through December 2019

Take a glimpse into the plight of El Salvadorian female refugees and their children through this exhibition of photographs and embroidered textiles. View embroidered works by women in El Salvador seeking to stitch themselves back together after their country was torn apart by civil war from 1980-1989 forcing them to flee to Honduras as refugees. The exhibition will consist of twelve colorful panels, illustrated photographs, and historical maps of the process. Additionally, embroidered colorful handkerchiefs by women made in the Honduran refugee camps will be on display.

The School of Theology hosted a reception for the Bordados De Memoria on November 12th in the Library Reading Room. A representative from El Museo de la Palabra y la Imagen (MUPI), the Museum of the Word and the Image, of San Salvador, El Salvador shared the story of these courageous women and their families during this event.
