There is 1 comment on BU Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Chorus at Symphony Hall Tonight

  1. Although I will be unable to attend this evening’s performance, “Persephone” is one of my favorite Stravinsky composition. Have known the piece since my days in high school with the old Columbia recording with the composer conducting the New York Philharmonic Orchestra with the incredible Vera Zorina as the narrator (monaural) then later rerecorded again this time in stereo if I remember correctly with the CBC Symphony Orchestra (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) or the Columbia Symphony Orchestra (CBS). In the mid 70’s the late Sir Colin Davis conducted the work with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and his narrator whose name escapes me was I believe Swedish actress. It is a beautiful work and so grateful that the BU Symphony Orchestra and Chorus are performing it. I wish David Hoose all the best for the future and thank you for your time as Director of Orchestral Activities.
