General Information for Your Arrival in Boston

Transportation

From Logan Airport to Boston University:
By train: This is the least expensive option. Shuttle buses provide free service between the airline terminals at Logan Airport and the Airport Station for the "T" (the Boston subway system). Take either Bus #22 or #33 to the airport Station. After arriving at the Airport Station, buy a subway token at the token booth for $0.85 (eighty-five cents). Then enter the gates and descend to the subway platform designated for inbound trains. You will take the next available Blue Line train four (4) stops to the Government Center station where you will exit the train. Then follow signs on the platform directing you upstairs to the Green Line. Take the "B" train only; it is the one going in the direction of Boston College and should be marked as such. Continue on this train for eight (8) stops until you reach the BU East station (this is an above-the-ground station). Exit the train and, directly to your left, you will see three high towers. This is the Warren Towers Residence Hall at 700 Commonwealth Avenue, your destination if you have reserved housing in the residence halls. Cross the street, enter the building at street level and use the elevators or escalators to reach the 4th floor where the front check-in desk is located. Please be careful crossing the street since Commonwealth often has very heavy traffic.

By Taxi: Taxis are readily available at all hours at all airport terminals. Flat rate fares are available; ask for exact fare in advance. Your destination is Warren Towers, 700 Commonwealth Avenue, past Kenmore Square and opposite the BU East "T" Station. The fare should be around $20.00. It is expected that you will tip the taxi driver at least 10%.

By car to Boston University:
From the East: Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) East to Exit 18, Brighton/Cambridge. Exit left. Follow signs to Cambridge to the second set of lights. Turn right at the lights; this is Soldiers Field Road/Storrow Drive. Exit Storrow Drive at the Kenmore exit. Follow local directions below

From the Southeast: Take I-93 Route 3 (Southeast Expressway) North to Boston. Exit onto Storrow Drive (Exit 26). Continue on Storrow Drive to the Kenmore exit. Follow local directions below.

From the North: Take I-93 or Route 1 South to Boston. Exit onto Storrow Drive (Exit 26). Continue on Storrow Drive to the Kenmore exit. Follow local directions below.

From the North Shore/Logan Airport: Take Route 1-A through the Sumner Tunnel. Follow signs onto the Expressway North. Take the Back Bay/Storrow Drive exit (Exit 26), and follow signs onto Storrow Drive. Continue on Storrow Drive to the Kenmore exit. Follow local directions below.

Local Directions from the Kenmore Square/Commonwealth Avenue exit of Storrow Drive
At the first set of traffic lights, turn right onto Beacon Street. At this point, the road forks; the right fork is Bay State Road. Take Bay State Road for Warren Towers Residence Hall. Bear right at the far end of Kenmore Square onto Commonwealth Avenue. The Warren Towers Residence Hall is at 700 Commonwealth Avenue.

Parking: Boston is a large and busy city and parking is often a problem.
