Pop-up Blocker
Both Internet Explorer and Firefox come with an internal pop-up blocker, which must be configured to allow Blackboard Vista to use pop-up windows. If you have an external pop-up blocker, such as the Google Toolbar, please see the section on configuring external pop-up blockers for Blackboard Vista.
Select your Browser
Allowing Vista pop-ups in Internet Explorer 6 and 7
- Launch Internet Explorer from your desktop or the start menu.
- Click "Tools" from the main menu.
(IE7 users can also find the "Tools" menu item to the right of the "Home" icon)
- Scroll down to and mouse-over the " Pop-up blocker" option.

- At the "Pop-up blocker" option, a menu will appear to the right of your mouse. In that menu, click "Pop-up Blocker Settings". If the "Pop-up Blocker Settings" option is disabled, you may need to click on "Turn on Pop-up Blocker" first.
- Type vista.bu.edu in the "Address of Web site to allow" text box.
- Click "Add".
- Type vista42.bu.edu in the "Address of Web site to allow" text box.
- Click "Add".
- Type 128.197.215.238 in the "Address of Web site to allow" text box.
- Click "Add".
- Click "Close".
- Proceed to the Browser Check.
Allowing Vista pop-ups in Firefox 1.5 and 2.0
- Launch Firefox from your desktop or the start menu.
- Select the "Tools" menu.
- Click "Options", the last item in the list.
- Click the Globe icon. For Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 users, this is called "Content".

- Ensure that the checkbox labeled "Block Popup Windows" is checked.
- For Firefox 1.5 users, click the "Allowed Sites" button to the right of "Block Popup Windows". For Firefox 2.0 users, the button is labeled "Exceptions...".

- Type vista.bu.edu in the "Address of Web site" text box.
- Click "Allow".
- Type 128.197.215.238 in the "Address of Web site" text box.
- Click "Allow".
- Type vista42.bu.edu in the "Address of Web site" text box.
- Click "Allow".
- Click "OK" or "Close" to close this window.
- Proceed to the Browser Check.
