———– START CALENDAR ———–
Program Dates
The University of Copenhagen’s spring semester runs from early February to late June. Orientation dates vary by academic department, it is mandatory for BU students to attend orientation. Your assigned academic departments orientation dates will be provided to you after you are accepted. We will list them below, when available. If you choose to participate in the pre-semester Danish language course, you should arrive by JAN 5. Classes typically end in late May or early June, and the final exam period technically goes through the end of June. However, you may finish with exams earlier in June depending on when each exam is scheduled. You will learn your final exam schedule after arriving in Copenhagen.
Pre-semester History of Copenhagen with Danish Language Course:
The free Pre-Semester History of Copenhagen with Danish Language Course is optional, but highly recommended for exchange students. Taught in English, it consists of a series of lectures, supplemented by some excursions out into the streets of Copenhagen. Students will earn 7.5 ECTS, which equates to a 4-credit BU course. The program runs January 6-26, 2025. For more information and to sign-up, visit the website.
Orientation dates:
- Faculty of Humanities -TBD – for more information and to sign-up visit the website, and review emails sent by UCPH.
- Faculty of Social Sciences – TBD – for more information and to view the schedules visit the website, and review emails sent by UCPH.
- Faculty of Science – TBD – orientation information will be sent to you by email, general information can be found on the website.
- Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences – TBD – orientation information will be sent to you by email, general information can be found on the website.
Tentative Academic Calendar
University of Copenhagen provides a basic academic calendar for exchange students (or Overseas Students on their website) here. You will learn the dates of your orientation directly from your department before traveling to Copenhagen. You should attend the orientation offered by the faculty or department that represents your first priority subject, but you may attend other orientations for courses you have been accepted to. Final exam dates and semester breaks will be announced after the start of the semester or will be indicated on your course syllabi.
Neither late arrivals nor early departures are permitted. We urge students to not make any weekend or mid-semester break travel plans until they arrive on site and receive the finalized course and program schedule. During the semester, students must fulfill strict attendance requirements and will be very busy with classes, program activities, and assignments. If family and friends plan to visit, please schedule trips to take place before the start of on-site orientation, during a scheduled program break, or after the semester ends. The first and last weeks of the program are critical to students’ success and require your full attention. By timing visits to coincide with scheduled program breaks, you can meet attendance requirements and take full advantage of your study abroad experience.
