Pro Tip: Engage with your host family, pay attention in Spanish class here it really is helpful, push yourself to explore the areas around you, try new foods as often as you can, engage with your BU peers–you’ll meet some amazing new friends, bring a decent amount of euros, local cafes don’t really allow for studying here so to study, go to Starbucks instead, plan trips for weekends (school is 4 days/week so traveling is super easy), pack stylish (sweatpants are unfortunately never seen here in public/on campus) and pack layer-able clothing. If you find yourself in Madrid and are looking for recommendations, I’ve kept a record of places to visit, sightsee, eat food, the nightlife, as well as travel destinations and plans!
