Academic Standing
University Policy
College of Arts & Sciences Policy
Students should become familiar with the Boston University Policy on Academic Standing for Undergraduate Students in Full-Time Programs.
In the College of Arts & Sciences, the review of all students’ records after the completion of each academic term is conducted by the Academic Standards Committee. Students are required to maintain a 2.0 cumulative and term grade point average and to complete at least 12, and preferably 16, units during a term. The Academic Standards Committee is empowered, in accordance with the University Policy on Academic Standing, to place students who fail to make satisfactory progress on probation or suspension, or to require their permanent dismissal.
