Advising and Counseling

Academic Counseling

The Academic Counselors in the Undergraduate Programs office (ERB 107) can provide resources and services to assist students with issues that may affect their academic performance. More information on the Academic Counseling staff can be found here.

Faculty Advisor

The Faculty Advisor plays a central role in guiding the student’s academic program, assisting in course selection, and providing guidance and counseling in all academic matters. Upon entering the College of Engineering, each student is assigned a faculty advisor. In order to register each term, students are required to meet with their faculty advisor, discuss their academic progress and course selection, and have their course plan approved through the Course Sequencing Tool.

Peer Mentors

The College of Engineering has several robust peer mentoring programs: EK 100 (for all freshmen), EK 200 (the sophomore mentoring program), and the TRAC Program (Transfer-Student Resources and Advising Community, for transfer students). These peer mentorship programs provide mentees with social and academic resources to help them navigate their time at BU, and offer excellent leadership opportunities to the students who choose to engage as a mentor.

Wellness

Counseling services are provided through the University Service Center, Sexual Assault Response & Prevention Center, and Student Health Services. The University Chaplain, the staff of religious counselors, and the residence hall counselors are also available to students of the college for guidance and counseling.
