Course Definition
A minimum of 4 quarter hours or 2.50 term hours of units constitutes a course.
Grading
The College of Engineering uses the University system of letter grades for evaluating coursework. Pass/Fail grading is not an option for College of Engineering graduate courses unless specifically indicated. Grades of P, F, or J will be assigned to 900-level coursework for PhD students.
Grades of C– or lower are not acceptable for master’s degrees; grades of C+ or lower for PhD students are interpreted as failures.
Incomplete Coursework
The College of Engineering follows the University Policy regarding Incomplete Grades, except that a maximum of one term is allowed for completion (exclusive of Summer Term). If the student does not complete the specified work, the I grade automatically converts to an F grade after one term.
Grade Changes
Grade changes are intended to correct inaccuracies arising from miscalculations and grading errors. College of Engineering policy does not allow grade changes from one academic grade (A–F) to another academic grade (A–F) more than six (6) months after the completion of the course. Grade changes from one academic grade (A–F) to another will not be considered on the basis of work completed and/or submitted after the course has ended. Graduate students’ grades cannot be changed beyond the end of the following term or after a student has been made an official graduate.
