Emergency Cancellation of Classes

Emergency Closing Information

In the event of an emergency, notices will be emailed. In the event of weather-related cancellations of classes, class cancellation notices will be posted with as much advance notice as possible.

For SPH staff: A decision to dismiss or close the BU Medical Campus for staff is made independently from the decision to cancel classes and will be emailed.

Email notification: Email messages will be sent to faculty, staff, and students in the event of closings, but may not arrive immediately if email servers are busy. We recommend checking the SPH website for messages. Students are required to maintain their BU alert number for the purpose of receiving telephone notification or text messages regarding emergency closures or emergency information.

Students please note: Do not rely on information about the Charles River Campus or Boston University. The Boston University Medical Campus has different closing policies from the Charles River Campus. Obtain information specific to SPH through the above-mentioned methods. Cancellation notices must specify “SPH” in order for them to be relevant to SPH.

Instructors are required to reschedule cancelled classes. Students will be notified by the instructor of makeup dates for any cancelled classes.
