Graduate Certificate in Creative Educational Leadership
The Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development offers a unique certificate program for current and aspiring leaders of schools and community-based organizations. The certificate program enrolls a cohort of 30 students each year and prepares leaders by integrating three perspectives on leadership—the artist, the educator, and the community-based organizational leader.
The 12-month program is grounded in the practice of leadership. The curriculum is competency-based; instruction is provided in a blended model (both online and in face-to-face meetings); and assessment of student competencies is holistic. Students must complete four courses (14 units), engage in field experiences, present two exhibitions of mastery, and complete a 2-unit Capstone Project.
Completion of the Graduate Certificate in Creative Educational Leadership can be a first step toward an administrative license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and an EdM in Education Leadership & Policy Studies, which will require a separate admission process and additional coursework.
