Peer Tutoring Graduate Assistant
The Educational Resource Center, Boston University’s academic support center, is seeking a Peer Tutoring Graduate Assistant interested in undergraduate academic support and higher education. The Peer Tutoring Assistants will support the Assistant Director for Tutoring Services with payroll, hiring, training, and supervision of Peer Tutors, as well as the day-to-day administration of the Peer Tutoring Program.

Peer Tutor
Peer Tutors help other students solidify their understanding of core concepts, guide them through challenging problems, and provide personalized study tips. If you’ve done well in your courses and enjoy helping other students, you might make a good tutor!
Open to undergraduate students only
Hours per week: at least 4 hours of available time, but tutors are only compensated when they have a student attend their sessions
Hiring for this position typically begins in April and October
Federal work study is accepted for this position but is not required

Writing Fellow
Writing Fellows help BU students with all stages and aspects of the writing process: time management and organization, brainstorming, confusion over the reading or prompts, outlining, thesis formation, building an effective argument, drafting, presenting and integration evidence/quotations, revising style and voice, patterns of error at the sentence level, citations, and techniques for editing and self-proofreading.
Open to graduate students only
Hours per week: 5-20, but fellows are only compensated when they have a student attend their sessions
Hiring for this position typically occurs occurs in July/August and January (if openings occur mid-year)
Federal work study is accepted for this position but is not required

ERC Student Desk Assistant (SDA)
Student Desk Assistants (SDAs) serve as liaisons between the Educational Resource Center (ERC) and current students, employers, visitors, and other departments and offices at Boston University. SDAs help to carry out the mission of the ERC by representing our office in a positive manner while interacting with students and guests in person and over the phone. SDAs must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, computer, and organizational skills.
Open to undergraduate students only
Hours per week: minimum of 6
Hiring for this position occurs in April/May and November (if openings occur mid-year)
Federal work study is accepted for this position but is not required
