Provost’s Scholars Award
About the award
The Provost’s Scholars Awards celebrate the achievements of students who have demonstrated their willingness in their first two years of college to stretch themselves intellectually, to push beyond what they already know they can do, to take significant risk by pursuing the unknown and unpredictable–in short, to demonstrate the spirit of a true scholar at a research university.
Up to twenty (20) awards are given annually, each carrying $1000 of funding for research/creative activity expenses such as travel to conferences and archives or for research-related equipment and supplies. Awards are be distributed through the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP). Winners are selected in the Spring Semester, and recognized at the Provost’s Academic Awards Ceremony during Parents’ Weekend in October.

Selection criteria
Provost’s Scholars are students who challenge themselves academically and are on a trajectory of continued intellectual growth. These qualities can be highlighted by challenging depth of studies, research, and engagement within the student’s primary field and in breadth of studies and exploration outside of that field. Provost’s Scholars continually push themselves beyond their academic comfort zones as they pursue to the fullest their undergraduate experience at Boston University.
