I am an incoming transfer student, who’s my academic advisor?

You will be assigned an academic advisor during summer 2025. You can expect to receive an email in mid-to-late May with guidance and information about when and how to register for fall 2025 classes. Registration for fall 2025 classes will open for transfer students on Tues. June 17, 2025 and will open for first-years on Tues. June 24, 2025. To learn more, visit SHA Undergraduate Advising.

Your faculty advisor’s name is available on the MyBU Student Portal under the “Academic Advising” link in “Academics.”

Who advises on degree and major requirements?

All students are assigned a faculty advisor who helps them with their career connections. Students are required to see their faculty advisor at least once per semester during registration. For curriculum requirements and questions regarding progress toward degree completion, you will work with the Director of Student Services.

Who advises on Hub requirements?

The Director of Student Services will provide advising support around Hub requirements. Faculty advisors may also be able to advise on the Hub.

How do I get in touch with SHA Student Services?

Email the Director of Student Services. You can also reach the office by phone at 617-353-3261, Monday to Friday from 9 to 5.

How do I apply for an Intra-University Transfer (IUT) into SHA?

Students interested in transferring into the SHA program can contact the Director of Student Services.

If I have a question about a specific topic, where do I go?

Often you will have more than one possible source of information about a specific topic. And sometimes, if the topic is complex, you will be encouraged to consult with multiple people. The chart below gives you a starting place for common advising topics.
