African American Studies Program Alumni and Friends Essay Contest Winners Announced

Jailyn Gladney (CAS ’16), the Undergraduate Prize winner for her essay, War: How “Black” and “Criminal” Became Synonymized in the Era of Mass Incarceration.
Channon Miller (GRS ’16), the Graduate Prize winner for her essay, Mothering Across Fragmented Borders of Blackness: Cross-Ethnic Ties Among African Immigrant, Caribbean Immigrant and African American Mothers
The prizes will be awarded at the African American Studies Convocation on Saturday, May 17th at 4:00 pm.
