James P. Marshall is a civil rights activist and an independent scholar and a Non-Resident Fellow at the W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African  and African American Research at Harvard University. He is the author  of Student Activism and Civil Rights in Mississippi: Protest Politics and the Struggle for Racial Justice, 1960-1965 with a Foreword by Staughton Lynd.
