Congratulations to our AFAM MA Graduates and Undergraduate Minors-You did it!
A hearty congratulations to AFAM MA graduates, Meaghan Halfpenny and Gabrielle Sims (CAS’15), and undergraduate minors, Jailyn Gladney, Max Gonzalez, Katie Hodgkins, Kaylan Kerr, Elisabeth Rudin on their achievements!
It was a proud day for family and friends as Dr. Mary Anne Boelcskevy congratulated the five graduating AFAM minors, citing their many accomplishments, and presenting them each with a book as a parting gift. Dr. John Thornton, Director of the African American Studies Program congratulated the AFAM MA graduates on their accomplishments as he presented their diplomas. In addition, the African American Alumni and Friends Essay prizewinners, Kathryn Hodgkins (CAS’16) and Gregory Chase (GRS), were recognized for their winning essays. Professor Roscoe Giles, gave the keynote address, “All In” where he encouraged graduates to engage with technology in new and meaningful ways. Ms. Genithia Hogges (GRS ’14) sang “I’ve Been Buked and I ‘ve Been Scorned” and “Lift Every Voice and Sing”.
