Mr. Kheireddine Bekkai holds an MA in the Instruction of French as a Foreign Language from La Sorbonne in Paris, France. He also holds two BAs, one in Applied Foreign Languages with a focus on Arabic, French and German, and the other in Translation and Interpretation in Arabic, French, and German. He also pursued studies in journalism at l’Insitut Français de Presse in Paris, France. In France, Mr. Bekkai worked as a freelance journalist for several publications that dealt with the French-Algerian relationship, language immersion, and the Arab community in France. He also worked at Radio France Internationale and the Conseil Superieur de l’Audio- visuel on a project that dealt with the representation of non-Europeans on French television.
Mr. Bekkai is a Lecturer and has taught all undergraduate levels of French, from first-year to fourth-year French, as well as a course on French civilization and culture in the BU Summer Program in Grenoble, France. He is also a Senior Lecturer in Arabic in the Department of World Languages and Literatures (formerly MLCL) at Boston University. Mr. Bekkai previously taught French as a full-time lecturer at Dillard University out of New Orleans, Louisiana. Since teaching at Boston University he has been a panelist and moderator in many panel discussions and talks hosted by local organizations regarding the issues of identity and immigration. He has therefore collaborated with faculty outside of WLL on these aforementioned topics. Mr. Bekkai is also interested in media studies and journalism, literature, and international relations, particularly as it pertains to the dialogue between Western societies and the Arab world.
