Mikki Maddox

English & Social Studies Teacher, Necedah Area High School

Mikki Maddox Graduated Viterbo University in LaCrosse, WI with a BA in Sociology and minors in history, communications, and music. She holds Wisconsin 6-12 teaching certifications in sociology, psychology, economics, history, English, theater, and academic speech. She is pursuing an MA in Professional Studies at University of Wisconsin-Parkside through their Uncovering Alternative Historical Narratives program. She is a recipient of the Herb Kohl Teacher Fellowship, Walmart Teacher of the Year, and Friends of International Education Teacher of the Year awards.

 

Mikki is currently a high school English/ Social Studies teacher at Necedah Area High School in Necedah, WI. She has just completed her 22nd year of teaching and 21st at Necedah. She is very active in social studies education in her state, serving on the Executive Board of the Wisconsin Council for the Social Studies and serving on committees for her Department of Public Instruction.  She frequently attends conferences, workshops, programs like this to hone her content and skills to better her students’ knowledge and experiences.

Mikki is thrilled by all the opportunities that the TAT program provides to explore a wide-range of content. She is most excited by the support and guidance she will be given to take what she learns and develop it into lesson plans and content that will not only be appropriate for her students but will also reflect accurate and contemporary scholarship on the issues and history that are important for her students to explore.
