Support Questrom

September 2021

We know that annual appeal letters can sometimes have an “it’s that time again” feel.

So why give now? It’s simple: because your gifts work. They make a real difference in the lives of real people—our students above all.

We are very, very proud of how well our Questrom School of Business students performed in last year’s constrained circumstances. And we are determined—as always—to strongly support our students this year, as we regain the full vibrancy of our on-campus community.

This means gathering again, for classes and help sessions, team-based learning, group presentations, conferences, info sessions with employers, job fairs, case competitions, and extracurricular events. And it means getting off campus, for company visits, interviews, internships, and international experiences.

You support all of these typical activities and new ones. For example: in the next few years, I am determined to provide every Questrom student with a hands-on, live, partner-based project experience. Students will be given a business challenge to solve for a real client. In teams, in high-stakes environments, they must come up with tractable and effective solutions—just as they would in any job.

I ask you to consider the scale of this effort: with 4,000 students, we need hundreds of clients, and staff to recruit them. We need support staff to manage client interactions, data, and project milestones. We need to give faculty time to align these experiences with their teaching. We need to transport people. And much more.

Partner-based learning is a complex, expensive challenge. But when a Questrom student is in a job interview, and is able to tell a true story of how they solved a real business problem for a real company, that investment pays off.

For my part, I will remind our students, staff, and faculty again and again that their predecessors at Questrom have helped make their learning experience possible. Please don’t underestimate the confidence your support gives them. That’s valuable in the business world, too.

I am grateful, our students are grateful, and Questrom is stronger with your support.

With best wishes for your health and happiness,

Susan Fournier
