Who is Ashley?
Ashley Therese Roes (CAS’22) is from Long Island, New York. She loves theatre and is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. At the age of 9, tragedy struck when her father passed and her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer the same week. Ashley’s mother believed she would not be able to pay for necessities and send her children to college. With the help of a scholarship, Ashley was able to attend her dream school.
What is she up to now?
Ashley has bridged her love for science and the arts by studying biology with a specialization in neurobiology. Participating in dance helped her heal when she was younger, and now she studies the impact of arts and dance therapy on the brain. She is a member of BU On Broadway and acts in a musical every semester.
What’s next?
Ashley plans to attend medical school and continue to pursue her interest in neuroscience. She is interested in the impact of trauma on brain pathways.
“If I was not offered this scholarship, I would not have been able to come to BU. Attending this university has been a dream of mine since I was a young girl, and this scholarship has made that possible.”
