Giving Tuesday is fast approaching and with so many great places to give, it can be hard to decide where to donate. But there’s no need to panic! In preparation for the big day, we have listed a few featured funds across Boston University’s campus that can help you narrow down your list of where to give. Read on to learn more about BU’s different funds so that you can be ready to donate on November 30!

Highlighted funds

Newbury Center
One of the newest additions to BU’s campus, the Newbury Center works to support first-generation college students. Give to this cause to help ensure that first-generation students have a fulfilling undergraduate experience.

General Scholarship Fund
The General Scholarship fund ensures that students can attend an affordable BU. By adding to the financial aid students receive, a donation to this fund helps to give scholarships to as many deserving students as possible

The Howard Thurman Center
The HTC advances Dr. Howard Thurman’s philosophy of community building and self-exploration by building meaningful experiences between students. Donate to the Howard Thurman Center to advance this mission of common ground on campus.

Terrier Meal Share
This initiative provides students with the opportunity to give their unused meal swipes to any other student in need, limiting food insecurity on BU’s campus.

Study Abroad Program
As one of the first universities in the US to send students abroad, BU is still working hard to offer a diverse and innovative cross-cultural learning experience for students. Give to the Study Abroad Program to help students grow in their professional, intellectual, and personal qualities in this increasingly interconnected world.

Student Life Fund
The Student Life Fund provides students with aid for unforeseen emergency circumstances. This fund has a powerful and immediate impact on students as they are supported through challenging times.

School/college funds

CAS | CAS Dean’s Fund for Experiential Learning
This fund helps students to participate in experiences outside the classroom through research opportunities, internships, off-campus projects, and similar experiential learning activities.

CFA | College of Fine Arts Fund
The CFA Fund is essential to addressing the everyday needs of students and faculty. This includes faculty and guest artist residencies, student travel to competitions, facilities improvements, production needs, and more.

CGS | CGS Anniversary Scholarship Fund
The CGS Anniversary Scholarship Fund provides funding for incoming students in the College of General Studies as they begin pursuing their academic careers at BU.

COM | COM Annual Fund
This fund helps support students pursuing Film, Journalism, Mass Communications, Advertising, and Public Relations. The Boston University College of Communication is also highly ranked across the nation for its programs and undergraduate opportunities.

ENG | Society Engineering Fund
The Society Engineering Fund is used to ​​support and produce more well-rounded “societal” engineers who are able to think in all dimensions of science, education, and society.

GSDM | David A Russell Scholarship
Assistant Dean for Admissions Dr. David Russell was a loving member of the GDSM community who lost his battle with cancer in early 2020. The David A Russell Scholarship was created in his memory to support students following in his footsteps in the Goldman School of Dental Medicine.

LAW | Robert G. Burdick, Jr. Fund for the Civil Litigation and Justice Program
After more than forty years as director of the Civil Litigation & Justice Program Professor Robert Burdick (’72) passed away in June of 2020, leaving a big impact on the BU Law community. This fund was established by the BU School of Law in memory of his dedication as a teacher, mentor, attorney, and friend.

MED | Outreach Van Project Fund
The Goal of the Outreach Van Project is to serve the medically underserved populations in the Greater Boston area by giving people access to service and providing basic necessities. Donating to this fund also provides students with an opportunity to learn valuable skills in community outreach.

MET | MET College Fund
The Boston University Metropolitan College Fund benefits scholarship programs for community college graduates, parents, and cancer patients, and survivors.

Pardee | Pardee Scholarship Fund
This fund provides opportunities for students in the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies to develop international worldviews and become truly global citizens.

Questroom | Career Exploration Fund
The Career Exploration Fund works to provide students in Questroom with the opportunity to explore various career paths through internships both locally in the Boston area and abroad.

Sargent | Sargent Cares
The Sargent Cares fund provides flexible support to students that goes above and beyond traditional financial aid. Established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this fund helps students recover from unexpected losses of employment, lend technology support, and, most importantly, helps keep students enrolled at Boston University.

SHA | School of Hospitality Fund
The School of Hospitality Fund goes towards providing Hospitality Administration or Hospitality and Communication students with a meaningful educational experience and professional opportunities.

SPH | Global Network of Practicum & Internships
Through global student exchanges, immersive internships and practica, and independent student projects, this fund helps to support students in the School of Public Health to gain real-world experience to further their careers.

STH – Faith & Ecological Justice Program Fund
This fund provides programming to enable School of Theology students to explore the relationship between environmental health and human justice, foster engagement with ecological justice, and promote environmental justice activism.

SSW | School of Social Work Dean’s Scholarship Fund
The Dean’s Scholarship Fund gives people an opportunity to grow their careers by gaining a Masters of Social Work in one of Boston University’s nationally-ranked programs.

Wheelock | Center on the Ecology of Early Development
This Wheelock fund supports students and faculty as they partner with causes around the nation to advocate for racial justice and equity for Black children and their families. A donation to BU CEED can help empower and strengthen diverse communities through the Center’s research and outreach efforts.

With so many incredible funds, it might be hard to choose where to donate. But remember that 100% of your donations go directly to the cause you choose!
