In the past couple of years, it’s become increasingly difficult to catch a break. As a collective, we’ve all felt the psychological weight of the events going on in the world. Though some of us have been fortunate enough to weather the storm thanks to the support of those around us, others are still struggling to cope with their ever-changing environments. Many are still feeling stuck and isolated. As part of this year’s Global Days of Service, we’re offering several flexible volunteer opportunities that allow you to have a positive impact on the mental wellbeing of others. These opportunities are available throughout the month of April, and you can participate as much or as little as you’d like.
Write uplifting letters
The Letter Project helps to support a community of women and girls across six different continents through the power of letter writing. As a volunteer, you’ll receive letter requests and be able to choose which recipients you’d like to write a letter to.
Uplift first-generation college graduates by writing letters of congratulations and encouragement to them. This opportunity is offered through Boston University’s Newbury Center – established in January of 2021 to support the success of first-generation students.
Make virtual contributions
CareerVillage’s mission is to democratize access to career advice for under-served youth. On your own terms, simply share your professional advice with CareerVillage’s community of aspiring professionals. Your contributions will give thousands of students the tools they need to succeed.
Help researchers better understand society’s hidden prejudices by volunteering with Project Implicit – a nonprofit organization committed to uncovering implicit biases through psychological testing.
Color the world a brighter place
Coloring can be both therapeutic for the artist, and for those who appreciate art. By volunteering with Color A Smile, your coloring pages will be distributed to senior citizens, troops, or anyone in need of a smile. This opportunity is perfect for children, or for those who wish to reconnect with their inner child.
There’s still time to participate in these volunteer opportunities. Register today, and make an impact while you still can! Click here to see a full list of Global Days of Service opportunities.
