Who is Emma?
Emma Packard (Wheelock‘22) is from Ann Arbor, Michigan. She enjoys roller skating, cooking, and exploring Boston in her free time. Having grown up in a Midwestern college town, Emma always wanted to attend college in a city that cared about its students. She knew BU was the perfect fit from the moment she stepped on campus, where she remembers falling in love with the Citgo sign. A scholarship made it possible for Emma to make BU her home away from home.
What is she up to now?
Emma is an elementary and special education major in Wheelock. Emma’s passion for helping others has led her to regularly volunteer in BU’s Community Service Center. Even though she’s an introvert, Emma loves sharing stories and experiences with new people. Her fondness for shared experiences is one of the reasons she participates in Best Buddies, a national organization dedicated to building friendships between people with and without Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. On-campus, Emma is also part of BU’s water polo team, Greek Life and ResLife.
What’s next?
After she graduates, Emma wants to pursue a career in early elementary school education. She would like to teach her own class someday, either in general or special education. Since coming to BU, Emma’s learned how to be her own person. She’s proud of the person she’s become while at BU, and that, she says, wouldn’t have happened without the help of a scholarship.
“I am really proud of the life I’ve created for myself at BU.”
