Raising the bar for BU
Parents are integral members of the Boston University community, and their involvement with BU makes a world of difference. Whether they choose to fund scholarships, support academics, or build connections, it all helps advance the University’s Strategic Plan.
If you’d like to increase your impact as a parent, you’re welcome to join the Parents Leadership Council (PLC): an initiative for parents who are shaping the future of BU. By working together, PLC members strengthen the University, further its mission, and change students’ lives.
A deeper level of engagement
PLC membership* opens doors to parents who want to use their philanthropy, engagement, and volunteerism to grow and support BU.
Members have access to special groups and events, such as Regional Leadership Councils, senior leadership webinars, and the annual PLC meeting on Family & Friends Weekend. They receive updates from the Development & Alumni Relations team and assistance from BU staff to navigate areas of interest. And they connect with parents from around the world through outreach opportunities, regional events, and on-campus activities.
*Membership is renewed on an annual basis.
What PLC members do
Parents who join the PLC gain special roles and responsibilities at BU. As part of their membership, they:
- Support the University with an annual leadership gift of $10,000 or more.
- Serve as BU ambassadors who build relationships with families, volunteers, and potential donors.
- Host or attend regional events—such as the Parents Welcome Reception and Summer Send-Offs—to welcome new families to the BU community.
Boston University needs parent leaders who are interested in helping to shape the future.
