Background

Dr. Mandell obtained his B.A. and M.D. from the University of Michigan. He completed his residency at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City then followed with a fellowship in Behavioral Neurology at the Boston Veterans Administration of the Boston University School of Medicine. He has remained on the faculty of BU. He is board certified in Neurology and is an attending physician at the Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC) in Bedford, MA.

Research Interests

Dr. Mandell’s research interest is dementia. He is particularly interested in unusual dementia syndrome but focuses his research time primarily on the study of Alzheimer’s disease.

ADC Role

Dr. Mandell has been an investigator for the Boston University HOPE study. He is currently based at the Geriatrics Research Educational & Clinical Center (GRECC) at the Bedford VAMC. He sees patients in Memory Clinic and GRECC Outpatient clinics.

Awards/Memberships

Dr. Mandell has twice been the recipient of the Teaching Excellence award from the Boston University Department of Neurology. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Headache Society and American Neuropsychiatric Association.
