Farewell to Dr. Shayna Sarosiek

With a mixture of sadness and pride, I would like to inform you that Shayna Sarosiek, MD will be leaving Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center after 11 years of dedicated service to our patients and center. She has accepted an offer to join Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and will be leaving BMC next week. Shayna has been instrumental in the stem cell transplantation program as well as the Amyloidosis Center. She has been an extraordinary colleague, a superb clinician, a dedicated researcher and a tireless mentor to fellows and residents. But above all, she has been a fabulous mentee and a protégé of mine. Shayna’s work has touched many of referring doctors, nurses, staff and patients. Shayna has had innumerable contributions to the field of amyloidosis and some of them are very impactful. To state a few of these contributions:

  • MGUS in patients with ATTR amyloidosis
  • BH3 profiling in patients with AL amyloidosis
  • Refining hematologic response criteria after treatment in AL amyloidosis

Please join me in thanking her now, and wishing her the best in her new challenge ahead.
