About

Andrea Blackburn is a primatologist and ecologist working in Dr. Cheryl D. Knott’s lab. She is interested in exploring primate behavior and ecology in the context of seed dispersal. Her dissertation research focuses on Bornean orangutan seed dispersal effectiveness, seed predation, and seed dispersal spatial patterns in Gunung Palung National Park, West Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo. Andrea is interested in understanding how primate behavior influences seed dispersal outcomes, particularly how intra-individual, spatial, and temporal variation shape seed dispersal processes.

Prior to joining Boston University in 2015, Andrea served as a research volunteer (2014-2015) studying Bornean orangutan behavior at the Tuanan Orangutan Research Project in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia Borneo. Andrea holds a B.A. in Zoology and Anthropology from Miami University, OH (2010-2014).
