About

Leyla is currently researching socio-cultural legacies and consequences of the Nagono-Karabakh war in Azerbaijan, including through a focus on the emergence of alternative forms of knowledge as well as gendered experiences of uncertainty. Her research centers what is not-known to emphasize the importance of inquiring into how we don’t know what we don’t know. Thus, she is centering the absence of evidence, the impossibility of full knowledge, and uncertainty in her inquiries.
