Hunter Moyler

Research Assistant

Hunter Moyler is a Research Assistant at the BU Center for Antiracist Research. In this role, he helps curate digital content and conducts research for various projects within the Office of the Director.

Hunter is a graduate of the University of Richmond and recently earned his M.A. in Public History from Northeastern University. At University of Richmond, he double-majored in English Literature and Journalism, with minors in Creative Writing and Latin American, Latino, and Iberian Studies (Spanish). As an undergraduate, he worked at the University of Richmond’s Race and Racism Project, helping to chronicle the history of race relations both on the school’s campus and in the city. In the summer of 2019, he had a fellowship with the non-profit UntoldRVA, and helped with that year’s commemoration of Gabriel’s Rebellion.

After obtaining his B.A., he briefly worked full-time as a writer for Newsweek before continuing on to Northeastern University. While at Northeastern, he worked as a TA and as a Student Ambassador for The HistoryMakers, the nation’s largest video oral history archive centered on Black history. Hunter believes that understanding (and effectively communicating) the historical roots of racist policies is a critical tool for facilitating their eradication by the antiracist movement.

Besides his work at CAR, Hunter loves to read, write, play video games, and do genealogical research.
