Katie Sharkey, MD, PhD, FAASM, FACP is Associate Professor of Medicine and of Psychiatry & Human Behavior at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Sharkey practices sleep medicine and is a recognized expert on sleep and circadian rhythms. Her current research focuses on interventions to improve mood and sleep in expectant and new parents and their children. Her work also examines health inequities in at-risk families. As Associate Dean for Gender Equity, Sharkey leads career advancement and leadership programs for faculty and trainees and is involved in multiple efforts to create a more equitable academic environment. Her research is supported by grants from the National Institute of Mental Health and the Hassenfeld Institute. Dr. Sharkey is an Associate Editor of Behavioral Sleep Medicine and serves on the editorial board of Sleep Health. Sharkey also serves as the Mentorship Chair for the American Medical Women’s Association.
